May 2009 UPDATE!

Well, things have been very busy here of late! Our calving season has finally slowed down.... whew! But we still have about 30 calves to come....

I have not had too much time to do too much.. I do have several sets in progress and almost completed! And also have been doing some painting... just seems like I don't get much time... that is the story of all of our lives huh? :o)

To the left is a picture of a CM Mini I did as a Curly horse and donated to The International Blessed Broodmare Project ( TIBBP ) I was proud to hear that it won a second in its first show! So has a NAN card! Janice Williford named him Mooshka! LOL

And this is an Absinth resin painted to look like McKinleigh the 2008 Silver medalist! :O) Below is a picture of Deb & Randy Buckler ( on the left) presenting the model to McKinleigh and his owners ( on the right ) Looks like McKinleigh is saying " Hey, a Mini ME!"

This is my first Haired model... and it is a portrait of my neighbors Arabian Stallion MCY Bur Bask "Phil" I was very happy with a third! :o)

This is the set I made my for my mom ( thank goodness she saw it before she passed away in Nov of of 2008 ) and also the pack set I made for Therese, also the Diorama was made by Mary Haynes. It took a first! I was SOOOO happy!

THis is the tack set I did as a Donation for OML I was very pleased with how it did at the silent auction for the show! :O)

And as a final note... Dixie had her Skipper baby!!! And it is a little filly!!! I hopefully will have more goodies to post soon! Sorry this was so short!

Visit from Austria

We were blessed this month in that my husband's mother ( Mutti) and one of his sisters( Birgit ) came to visit us from Austria! We had fun as usual!
Here are just a few pics from their visit!

Mutti meeting Wonder... who turned 2 years old on the 8th of April!

Here is Muti and Dacota.

And ofcourse Mutti had to try riding the 4 Wheeler! She did a great job!

Birgit, seems to be much better at hiding from the camera! LOL I will try to get some of her next time! :O)

What I have been upto lately!

Well we got hit with a little more than 2-3 inches of snow!! LOL more like 9"!!!!

It made the getting around rather fun! The worst part was the bitter wind... not only was it COLD, but it caused some really deep snow drifts!
We managed, and although it is still hanging around it will soon be gone when the high 60's come rolling back through!

Here is the latest goodies to come out of the Tack room and studio! :o)

This Akhal Teke saddle set is a donation to Ozark Mountain Live Model horse show, that is to be held in Springfield, MO on 11 April....Proxy bids are being accepted on it, contact me and I will send the info on to whom it needs to go to! :O) ( I don't want to put her email addy all over the web for her! :OP)
NOTE: the horse does NOT go with the set! JUST the tack is included! :O)

Here is a picture of the Lonesome cowboy I did for my mom...and the pack set I recently completed for a CM order! It even has a bear skin rolled up on top of it! :o)

This is a closeup shot of a Donation piece I did for TIBBP, it is a cute little Curly pony cross on the Paint by Numbers horse!

Here is a CM order that I did for Deb Buckler on the Abisnth mold ( Hope I spelled that right! )

That is about all for now... I have a couple more projects in the making which I hope to post about soon!

I hope all of you who are following this are doing well.... just a while longer for spring here! We have had 2 calves so far!!! Soon there will be more and more!

Till next time! Lydia :O)

Time for a catch up!

Well, I have been very slack in my postings here... that is partly due to the fact that on the 30th of Nov my mother passed away....
She was at home where she wished to be and as comfortable as possible... there is never enough time... but we had many long talks before she passed on...

I have had many close friends who have experienced the loss of a loved one recently as well... it makes every loss all that much more tender...but has give us all someone to talk to about it!!! Friends are a must at this time for me... and I love everyone of you very much!!! ( you all know who you are!! :o) )
If you will notice to the right...SARA has been adopted!!! She has a WONDERFUL new home where she has a little Fur brother and her mom and dad are super people!!! She is gonna be SOOOO spoilt!!! ( I kinda wish I could have been adopted by them too! :OP )

I have been trying to work more with the painting while I am cleaning out my tack room( miniature tack that is! ) I am gonna get rid of a bunch of stuff I no longer use...! ( or so I keep telling myself!! I am SUCH a pack rat!)

So not much progress has been made in any direction there!! but it is slow and steady!!!

All the horses are doing great...Noodle is GROWING like a weed and is as tall as her mother now!! ( not saying much there! :oP As Flower is kinda like me; Well built and close to the ground!! LOL It just looks MUCH better on her than me! ;O) )
We recently got a new member to add to our Equine family... Ebony ( Ebony Desperado Mac ) AQHA ( 97% Foundation bred) She is a real sweetheart!

This is before we got the snow and Ice! Thank goodness it did not hit us too bad... but I sure feel for those that it did hit... we have been there..and hope that things get up and running ( or back to normal) ASAP!

Well, I think mostly that is about it for now... I hope to be able to get back in the swing of things and start posting more regularly!

Wonder update

Well my friend and neighbor Brig came over and we decided to go play with Wonder!
These are a few pics I took of that ... ( hee hee I have found if you are t he one always holding the camera... you are NOT IN the shots! :oP )

We laughed over this one cause I took it as we were walking up and she is over the small hill and the scale is WAY off cause that feeder is only a foot tall and so it makes Wonder look like a MINI horse!! LOL

As you can see her that is NOT the case! :oP She just loves everyone and is so curious!

This pick she may hate me for..... I had to show her petite rump...... snicker snicker.....

At first glance in this Pic Wonder has a VERY strange shadow... But that is actually Precious one of our Limousin heifers....

Here Precious and Wonder are both trying to get all of Brig's attention...Brig was covered in both cow and horse slobbers before we were done! :o)

Wonder was walking after Sara... one of our dogs....

and getting loves from Brig.....

Below is a silly video I took it was windy that day so there is lots of noise.... And Wonder Chases Sara a bit after trying to steal Brigs cigarette she had yet to light!
I stopped abruptly as Sara, whom Wonder had been chasing ran behind me! OFCOURSE...
And I wanted to be able to distract Wonder from her.... No humans or dogs were injured during the making of this film! LOL

The Lonesome Cowboy Minature Set

This is one of the current sets I am working on...when completed there will be a horse, cowboy and diorama to go with it... :o)
The set is anything but pretty...it is supposed to be a REAL cowboys saddle!! and has been used , abused, and even repaired... it has plenty of scuffs, scratches and battle scars adding to its wonderful patina.... I will post more pics of it when the other parts are completed!!! :o)

The Breast collar

the bridle...

Detail of the pouch on the cantle support.

detail picture showing a repair and some of the "rope burns" caused from working the calves....

Some of our bulls....

I have had several people inquire about our bulls... :o) So I thought I would post a few pictures.....

This is one I call Cupie Doll cause of his hair doo it forms a peak just like the Cupie Dolls! LOL He is busy seeing what books I am bring him to read...:oP ( I borrowed some from mom and was taking them home in a plastic bag...)

This is Bear...an Angus bull we had for many years...we ended up having to sell him because we had kept so many heifers out of him it was not wise to keep him anymore... he got a great home at a ranch down in AR. He is taking snacks from Andy in this pic.

And getting scratches from me in this one! Such a sweety!!

This is Cody feeding some of our yearling bulls this summer...

This is Mr. Universe...a Charolais bull we sold to a ranch across town when we started switching to all Limousin bulls... you can pick up his feet like a horse and even ride him! GENTLE was his middle name!!!

This is a very YOUNG Bull... his first day in this world...his momma did not want to clean him so good so we brought him to the house and gave him a warm bath and played with him for a while then gave him back to momma who was happy to have him back and then proceeded to clean all the human smell off of him! ...HEE HEE And Kitty smell too! :OP
( Bug... THIS would be a lap size bovine!!! LOL )

This is one of our yearling bulls flexing for the camera....

Here is ALER Lord Olympus 024N ( OLY , we call him) and a 500+ lb steer.... looks like they are cruzin for a fight!!! ( My neighbor said it looks like Oly is saying " Ok ,point out the kid that beat ya up...*I'LL* take care of him!" LOL Both are more lovers than fighters!

Here I am scratching Oly's tail... cows and bulls alike LOVE to have their tails scratched!!! And they will start swaying from side to side cause it feels so good... sometimes they darn near fall over!! LOL Which is what Oly almost did soon after hubby took this pic! :O)

Here is hubby ( Andy) scratching the 63 bull... he makes them all look short cause he is well over 6 foot!

Here are some of the yearlings... just hanging out....

CND Martin 083M ... our Limousin Herd bull....
